I am unable to sleep tonight. To assist in my peaceful night, I have put on (you guessed it) Pride and Prejudice 2005. It isn't working. To be honest, it is working, but in the completely opposite way. Instead of lulling me to sleep with the most romantic story that ever was written, it has got my mind racing with images of Matthew Macfadyen and all his upcoming appearances. In 1 month, Incendiary is set to be released in the UK. I have just been informed that Matthew has gotten quite a lot of screen time, which is great... if only it will come to the US. The image of Matthew in a uniform and sporting a beard- though I do usually tend to hate facial hair- is burned in my mind. Hands in pockets. Looking at the camera. He looks supremely handsome. Then, in November, Little Dorrit is set for release- once again in the UK. Now, I don't begrudge the wonderful people in the UK anything. But come on!!! I want him too!!! The pictures that have been released are beautiful. Matthew in period clothing is just more than my little heart can take!!! I must see this program. Unfortunately, there is usually a lengthy delay before Masterpiece Theater plays these movies for us... we'll see. Finally, in December (although the date seems to be coming to me differently every time I hear it) we should have the privilege of seeing Matthew in all his glory on the big screen for the first time since Death at a Funeral. Although the movie seems interesting enough, I don't think that under normal circumstances I would be chomping at the bit to see a movie about Tricky Dick. But... Ron Howard, had the good sense to put Matthew Macfadyen in this movie to lure audiences to the theater!! Genius man, Ron Howard is!! There are whispers of a particular scene in which Matthew runs nude into the ocean... gulp... maybe now I can sleep! Sweet dreams!

I'm giving in to my Matthew Macfadyen urges tonight. I have updated my Myspace page with a slide show of pictures of the man. The music that plays with it is James Blunt's "You're Beautiful". It just seems to be the most fitting statement. |

Oh where oh where has our Matthew gone????? Matthew Macfadyen has seemingly disappeared this summer!!!! Where is he??? It occurs to me that I have been feeling the loss of him for some time and blaming my foul mood on other, more obvious but less distressing, things. I know, I know... this is not a person who I have ever met or may ever meet. That's ok. Well, I'd like it better if I did!! But really, Matthew has become a part of my life. My family speaks of him as if he's an old friend. I think of him in the same way. Even my co-workers "know" him- through me. This summer was going to be "THE" summer. He was going to make a splash in "Frost/ Nixon", which is sure to be a huge hit if it is ever released. Then there was "Little Dorret" to think about and the possibility of photo-ops. And who could forget "Miss Marple" and yet another opportunity to see this elusive man on the television??? Deep sigh. None if it has happened yet. It's July and I can't remember the last time I saw any news of Matthew. No new pictures, no current awards... it seems a long time. And yet, just a little while back he made his little walk on the red carpet in his cravat and a devastatingly handsome new haircut. Ahhhhhh... this man. What does he do to me?? He makes me wait. He makes me wonder. He makes me shiver with anticipation. And anticipate I do...

Zeus, Poseidon, Apollo, Matthew Macfadyen. All Gods, all amazing! Today I was alerted to new pictures of Matthew Macfadyen suporting his wife Keeley Hawes at the "Glamour Woman of the Year Awards" . WOWZA is all I have to say!!!! To have any man, let alone this man, adore me like this is more than I can stand!!!!! How does one stand it????? Matthew has been flying under the radar of late. I don't know why. I am so happy that Frost Nixon is coming out later this year in the US!!!! Hopefully this will give some of attention to Matthew that he so deserves. Time to adore the man for all that he is! For Matthew: You are there when I need you, Always. For you, I shall be Here. Always. Whenever you need A friend.

I am watching my very well used DVD of Pride & Prejudice with Matthew Macfadyen. It has been a few weeks since the last time and I am so glad I waited. Although I know this movie better than I know my telephone number, when I wait a bit I notice new things. Tonight what is striking me is Matthew's talent with the slightest facial movements. He really is a genius at portraying emotion. Right off, at the first introduction of Mr Darcy, when Mrs Bennet is saying that her other 2 daughters are dancing, I saw a slight twitch of Darcy's head towards her as if she caught his immediate attention with this comment. Next Darcy is introduced and the little flicker of interest is replaced with cool disinterest. It is such a slight change that even after all this time, I hadn't noticed it. He makes me believe him in a way that no other actor ever has. I wonder if it is through Matthew's training that he has developed such a talent for sensing what his audience needs him to feel, or is he really such a sensitive soul? Little Doritt should give us a chance to see Matthew's talent for becoming the characters he plays. With another period piece, it would be easy to slip into the darcy role that everyone knows him for. But I suspect, we will find a very different Matthew. It will be a testament to his skill that he can play a similar role differently. Having seen almost all of his movies, I have seen his diversity. I know that he has the talent to play any part he wants, next will come the task of finding a perfect role.

Ok, for anyone who's interested, there is a little friendly competition going on. It is an ongoing dilemma... who's the hotter Darcy at http://teamsugar.com/group/739413/polls/1 I just can't say enough about Matthew. As if I wasn't falling in love with him throughout every single scene of the 2005 big screen version of Pride & Prejudice, there is no way that a soggy shirt can out do breeches and a fluttering coat in the fog at dawn. No way! Now, in the mornings when I am driving to work and there is a light fog as the sun rises, I look out into the fields I can almost see Mr Darcy walking toward me. What a delightful way to begin the day!

Matthew Macfadyen is a GOD!!! Today I came across a newspaper article on http://www.eastkentmercury.co.uk about the filming of "Little Dorrit" for a miniseries this fall. Matthew looks amazing!!!! I hope it gets air time in the US. Meantime, Cannes seems to be getting going! They are supposed to be showing Incendiary ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0984200/ ) and hopefully it gets picked up for distribution. Really really want to see Matthew on the big screen!! Otherwise slow day today. Reading, gardening, enjoying days off surfing the net!!!

I just jogged 2.4 miles. As I'm not a fitness expert that's a big accomplishment for me. I give loads of credit to my "Team Darcy" t-shirt that was a gift to me from my wonderful friend Gwyn. It is for the team and I must succeed. Each time I have jogged in this shirt I have made progress, but today was a leap!! My goal is 3 miles before summer and the oppressive heat arrives, so that I can just maintain, as opposed to progressing. A big day today! The cast of "Little Dorrett" was formally announced! Of course Matthew Macfadyen's lovely picture graced the announcement and left me thinking about how nice he looks in breeches and a hat, albeit a big round thing instead of the top hat I had hoped for. The great news is that he seems to have a quite romantic part in this. I will have to break down and read this now just to be able to bear the time between now and the fall when it airs in the UK. Then the question arises, how will I get access to this miniseries?? But I will leave this question for another time, closer to the date. And now, for a bit of reading!

The Sun is shining, the birds are chirping and All I want to do is sit indoors and watch Pride & Prejudice. The 2005 Joe Wright version with Matthew Macfadyen & Keira Knightly. As soon as the movie begins, with the sun rise and the bird chirping in the distance, a feeling of utter contentment washes over me and I am transported to another place where things are simple. Then a light piano begins and throughout the movie I fall in love all over with Mr Darcy. Today I will sit outdoors in the spring sunshine and read my latest book- Sharon Lathan' "Two Shall Become One" which I have only just started but is excellent so far! That was my only complaint about Pride and Prejudice- I didn't want it to end. Now it doesn't have to. This book continues right where the 2005 movie left off, and judging by the authors note, she was as affected by Pride & Prejudice 2005 as I was. |
